Are you a relative, friend, descendant of the named people in the war crimes trials on this site? Can you help provide information or shed any light about their background, life stories, etc? Please contact me. Your help is greatly appreciated. I am curently actively seeking information on those named on this site as well as the following individuals below:

Ronald alfred ferdinands (1914-?)

Picture
Mr. R.A. Ferdinands is named in case ref WO235/837 as a prosecution witness and victim. From initial searches on Geneanet and FamilySearch, he was born in Ipoh, Perak, in 1914, to Arthur Cecil Ferdinands (1866-1941) and Agnes Ellen Walters (1876-1956). His siblings were: Eric Cecil Ferdinands (1895-1942), Noel Frederick Ferdinands (1896-?), Enid Edele Ferdinands (1898-1956), Mervyn Arthur Powell Ferdinands (1900-1973), Vernon Ferdinands (1902-?) and Iris Ellen Ferdinands (1905-1943). According to Geneanet, his grandparents were: John Henry Ferdinands (1832-1871) and Emma Loos (1837-1902).

A.E. Perera (MBE)

Picture
A.E. Perera (in trial records is occasionally referred to as Parera [sic]) was a prosecution witness in case ref WO235/837. He was detained on 25 October 1943 and held in the same cell as the Kathigasus, Ronald Alfred Ferdinands, Ooi Chim Hwa, William Pilley (Pillay), Lim Eng Keat, and others. He provided testimony to corroborate the incident involving Sybil Kathigasu and her then 7-year-old daughter Dawn, as well as other incidents of torture. My initial search indicates that he was awarded an MBE in 1941 and was Honorary Centre Secretary of the Perak St Johns Ambulance Brigade. Prior to that, he was Honorary Secretary of the Kuala Lumpur YMCA. I could not locate his full name through the Gazette despite his having received an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).
